In EC2 we have been learning lots of songs and rhymes about animals and animal sounds, such as: Old MacDonald, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, See The Pony Galloping, The 5 Little Monkeys, The Cuckoo Bird Song and many others. One of our favorite chants, On My Trip To The Mountains, includes instrument playing as well. With the help of the tone blocks, we can imitate different animal sounds that we meet on our imaginary trip to the mountains. The video below offers a sample of our music activities. The EC2 students are very enthusiastic about the music and movement classes. They love singing, playing instruments and moving to the music. We have learned lots of nursery rhymes like: Humpty Dumpty, Hickory Dickory Dock, Five Little Ducks, Five Little Monkeys, Jack and Jill, The Insy Winsy Spider and The Wheels On The Bus (our favorite). We have explored all kinds of instruments like: shakers, maracas, tambourines, rhythm sticks, drums, sand blocks, xylophones, piano and some non-conventional ones like pots and pans. The "Turtles" love to move and they look forward to any movement opportunity that helps developing their body strength, gross motor skills, coordination and balance. Below you can see some examples of activities that your little ones are involved in during the music and movement classes. Enjoy! During the first two weeks in EC2 we sang simple songs for nursery rhymes (The Wheels on the Bus, Humpty Dumpty, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Five Little Ducks), we played with rhythm instruments and we moved creatively to music using different props.
