The EC3 students have started preparing for their winter show. They are very enthusiastic to learn winter songs about gingerbread cookies, snowflakes and snowmen. You can take a sneak peek at one of the songs we have been learning, Five Little Snowmen Fat, by watching the video below! During the last few weeks in EC3 we have worked on exploring our voices to imitate sounds and learn songs. Thus, we have been risk takers and we practiced singing solo demonstrating that we can sing on pitch and we can sing songs in their entirety and from memory. We also discovered that our body can make music and we learned some body percussion patterns. We practiced keeping the steady beat using percussion instruments or moving to the music. Below you can find some examples of activities that we have been involved in. Enjoy! Overall expectations Music is the study and exploration of sound and the expressive use of musical elements through the singing of songs and playing of instruments. Children will join together in musical activities, using their voices and simple instruments to develop concepts about sound and musical awareness. They will participate both individually and in groups in games, songs and creative movement activities. Children will develop musical ideas in composition using musical notation. They will begin to develop an awareness and appreciation of music from different cultures. During the first two weeks in EC3 we sang songs (old favorites and new ones) we played with rhythmic patterns and we moved creatively to music. Here are some pictures from our class: |
